Research & Planning: Music

Research & Planning: Changes

To broaden the focus of my original documentary trailer idea, instead of just looking at eating disorders such as anorexia I have decided to film teenage body image, not just weight but other features of the body which effect the appearances of teenagers.

Research & Planning: 'Don't Call Me Crazy' Trailer BBC Three

The 'Don't Call Me Crazy' BBC Three documentary trailer is a good example of a serious/sensitive documentary based on teens and young people, similar to the aims of my own. On the information and support page it addresses the mental disorders approached in 'Don't Call Me Crazy' includes eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia.

Research & Planning: 'Diaries of a Broken Mind'

'Diaries of a Broken Mind' is a documentary which has been recently shown on BBC Three. I thought I could relate my documentary trailer idea to this programme as it specifically focuses on the thoughts of young people and their problems, therefore a very sensitive documentary with a target audience similar to mine. The information on the documentary explanation states "They show us the everyday challenges if relationships, education, work and uncomprehending parents" and it clearly mentions the teen mental disorder of anorexia which my documentary will focus on. I thought the list of music played throughout the documentary could also be quite useful as it is relevant to the sensitive perspective and the youthful approach.

Planning & Research: Audience Feedback

The feedback I received on my 1 minute long treatment was all pretty much positive and I gained lots of helpful ideas and tips such as:
"Be careful to be sensitive!!"
"Lot's of research needed"
"Emotive music would help set the scene"
"May need a warning at end of film to help the people who may have issues"
